DESCRIPTION:Join us for a presentation exploring African American participa
 tion during the Valley Forge encampment of 1777 to 1778.  Learn about the 
 hundreds of Black soldiers who enlisted in the Continental Army and endure
 d six months of hardship during the winter encampment\, the Black ironwork
 ers at Mount Joy Forge\, and the dozens of African American civilians impa
 cted by armies invading their homefront.  Lastly\, discover the legacies a
 nd epic journeys of Black Patriots or Loyalists who traveled the world in 
 the years following their experiences at Valley Forge—to Nova Scotia\, t
 he Bahamas\, Sierra Leone\, and Canton\, China! Presenter Justin B. Clemen
 t has written a Historic Resource Study funded by the National Park Servic
 e and facilitated through a cooperative agreement with the Association for
